Prevention Resources and Opportunities

Support efforts to prevent use of opioids through strategies that:

• Have demonstrated effectiveness preventing drug misuse among youth
• Engage a robust multi-sector coalition of stakeholders in the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic plan for substance use prevention
• Support community-based education or intervention services for families, youth, and adolescents at risk for opioid use disorder
• Support greater access to mental health resources for youth
• Initiate, enhance, or sustain local youth health assessment

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Describe what substance use prevention is and how it shows up in the State Subdivision Agreement
2. List existing prevention resources and Massachusetts Department of Public Health grants
3. Identify strategies that could be funded by municipal abatement dollars to supplement these resources
